James D. Hocker, CPA Senior Partner
Jim graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri in 1967 with B.S. degree in Business Administration and a major in accounting. He joined Price Waterhouse & Co. (St. Louis) in 1967 and worked on the audit and tax staffs before leaving in 1971 to join our firm. Jim has extensive experience in governmental and not-for-profit accounting and auditing, business accounting, and income tax preparation and planning for individuals, corporations, partnerships and fiduciaries. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Illinois CPA Society and the Tax Division of the AICPA.
Robert R. Fitzjarrald, CPA Partner and Investment Representative
Bob joined the firm in 1984 after graduating from Western Illinois University and subsequently became a partner in the firm. Bob's specializes in helping small to medium sized businesses and individuals with taxation, accounting, retirement plans and wealth management services. Bob is a CPA and a licensed investment representative. Bob's wealth management services include company sponsored retirement plans, investments, IRAs, retirement plan rollovers and lifetime income planning. In addition, Bob has considerable accounting and auditing experience including for private businesses, governmental and not-for-profit entities and he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Illinois CPA Society.
Johnathan P. Frey, CPA Manager
John joined Hocker & Fitzjarrald in 2003. He graduated from Illinois State University in 1990 after earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting, with an emphasis in business information systems. John received his CPA certification in 1994 and has worked in public accounting for 19 years. John specializes in governmental and not-for-profit accounting and auditing, preparation of personal and business tax returns, and business accounting & review services.
Rhonda L. Vogel, CPA Senior accountant
Rhonda joined the firm in 1997, with over sixteen years of accounting and bookkeeping experience. She is a Canton native and a Spoon River College graduate. Rhonda graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Illinois University in 1995, becoming a CPA in 1996. Currently, Rhonda specializes in governmental and not-for-profit auditing.
Linda J. Mitchell, Accountant
Linda joined our firm in 1997 and has thirty plus years of experience in small business accounting and bookkeeping. Her knowledge of payroll preparation and management skills are also valuable assets that Linda brings to our extensive and varied client base. Linda is a Canton native and a Spoon River College graduate.
Paula L. Arrenholz, Accountant
Paula became a member of the Hocker & Fitzjarrald family in 1999. She brings 20+ years of accounting, marketing, human resource and management experience to the firm. She has a diploma from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale after the completion of the two year school for banking through the Illinois Bankers Association. Also, Paula has a diploma from the Human Resources School of the Illinois Bankers Association. In addition, Paula has also received the following certificates from the American Institute of Banking: General Banking diploma and Bank Operations diploma. Paula has 50+ hours of college credit in general business, accounting, and banking coursework. Paula has a unique, yet professional working relationship with many of our clients and she is a Canton native.
Julie A. Snider, Admin. Asst.
Julie joined Hocker & Fitzjarrald in 2008 and has nearly twenty years of experience as an administrative assistant. She assists the entire staff through various administrative functions which include receptionist duties, word processing, database & clientele spreadsheet maintenance, office inventory, and general monthly billing, etc. Julie is a Canton native, although she spent 1998-2002 living and working in Europe, specifically The Netherlands. Julie is also a graduate of Midstate College in Peoria.
